How to Make Diving Fun! Tips for Young Divers in Bali

Isn’t it just great to pass down what you’re passionate about to your children? If you are a passionate diver and parent, you’ll likely wish your kids could experience diving too. If you’re anxious about teaching them yourselves or think that they might be too young to get into the underwater world, several scuba programs in Bali and courses are available and designed specifically for children.

Scuba diving for kids

There are a few options of diving programs for kids aged eight years and older offered by PADI, the most basic program is the PADI Bubblemaker, where children can experience swimming and breathing underwater in an entirely confined environment no more than 6 feet deep.

Want a full diving certification for your kids? Hold up, wait till they’re 10 years old and they’ll be able to enroll in the PADI Junior Open Water Diver course.

Ready to dive?

Only you know the conditions of your kid and how ready they are physically and emotionally to handle the ups and downs of the entry-level course. Even if PADI and SSI offer some full dive courses for kids only 10 years of age, that doesn’t mean that every child can start at that age. Make sure that you’re not encouraging your kids before they are ready as it can be counter-intuitive and dangerous. Once they encounter a frightening, intimidating or confusing experience while diving, then there’s a good chance they’ll put off diving for life. Remember that your child has to be interested in diving for themselves and for you.

Choosing a Dive Center

It’s essential to choose the right operator. Before signing up for a course, arrange and meet prospective instructors so that you could ask a few questions on their experience with teaching scuba diving with kids. Find a dive center that prioritizes safety, but also make a fun experience to keep the children interested.
Need a dive course in Bali that can teach your kids to dive? Alpha World Diving is a dive center based in Sanur where we offer diving lessons for youth divers, including the bubblemaker course as well as some more action-packed underwater programs for young passionate divers.
