This small village located on the coastal region of Bali, is about 10 km south of the famous Tulamben Bay. Amed diving boasts some spectacular experiences but is little known to divers around the world, which is a shame as this dive site is just as amazing as Tulamben and Padang Bai. This region, accented by volcanic rock, ridges along the coastline and is an easy dive for all ages and diving levels, with easy access from the shore or from a short jukung trip.
Here are the top dive sites of Amed
you should visit:
Melasti Beach
If you're a muck diver, brace
yourselves for this heaven! Melasti beach is filled with strange creatures. You
can easily find Harlequin shrimp, tiger shrimp, skeleton shrimp, sea urchins
and much more. There are even green turtles peacefully feeding on the seagrass.
Amed Muck
At depths of 30 meters, you’ll find
some soft corals, eye-catching structures, and marine life with colorful
anemones, mantis shrimp, turtles, wrasses and stingrays. The current here can
reach mild to medium.
Lipah Bay
This site is perfect for beginners as
it has a sandy bottom where you’ll find small critters, sponge and fields of
algae. You’ll find some stunning colorful coral gardens in the east, fully
balanced between soft and hard corals. There is more life in the southeast and also,
in the middle part of the bay, some great macro life with large sponges.
Japanese Shipwreck
This shipwreck rests only 5 meters under the shore. Its easy access and the beautiful coral life that covers the wreck, make it one of the best diving spots in Amed. The site also offers some vast marine life such as pygmy seahorse, octopus, squat lobsters and many more. Curious about diving in Amed?
